I've got a cold and I'm feeling really run down so this'll be a short one.

My family had a garage sale this weekend and that went pretty well. I'd go into more detail, but nah . . .

NaNoWriMo has started! Yay! Unfortunately, I'm behind schedule due to my cold and a busy schedule. However, despite my being behind, I'm still well ahead of what I had written last year at this date. So I'm hoping that I'll recover quickly and be able to get back into writing full swing.

I am in soooo much pain right now.

Today we finally had our MASSIVE garage sale. @_@

It was a hell of a lot of work but it went really well. We sold a ton of stuff, including several things that we thought would never go. Needless to say, we're all pretty happy with ourselves. ^_^

Unfortunately, I hurt all over from hauling stuff all day yesterday and today, plus all the gofering I did. >_<

Yesterday when I woke up I had one of those rare moments where I remembered my dream. Usually this isn't a problem as for the most part they're weird and make no sense. (Take zombie week for example: I had a zombie-themed dream nearly every night for a whole week and I hadn't watched a zombie movie in well over a month. Seriously.) But this one ended up being the third in a series of rare events where the dream not only made sense, but was a really good plot-bunny. *sighs* I wrote it down and now I've got yet another story in my personal queue. I swear I'm never gonna get caught up. ~_~

Why do they hate the American fans so much?

I mean seriously. We buy their merchandise, spend hours creating websites that give them free advertisement . . . and then they go and stab us right in the back, then the heart, then they twist. My oldest muses took it especially hard, seeing as its connected them in a manner.

I'm referring of course to that first-class, grade-A piece of GARBAGE that is the new American Dragonball movie. When I was subjected to the first trailer, I literally felt like I had just been punched in the face.

1st offense: Goku is a teenager. An AMERICAN teenager. A WEAK American teenager with no confidence or friends! What kind of screwed up bullshit is that! In the REAL Dragonball, Goku is a kind, naive, powerhouse and had several friends by the time he reached his later teens. This first offense is unforgivable alone, but I'll continue anyway.
2nd offense: What in the hell is with this descendent of the Sun and Moon god bullshit?!  Not only do we have a wimpy Goku who gains magical strength from this load of crap but now he and Piccolo HAVE to fight?!  What happened to Demon King Piccolo who wanted to take over the world?!
3rd offense: The Dragonballs. What the hell did they do to the damn Dragonballs?! Simplest thing in the world, you gather all seven, you get any wish within the dragon's power granted. That's it. Nooo!! That's too simple! No, we have to bullshit it up and make them into some magical anti-end-of-the-world repellent to jazz things up! (I will personally maim the first person to mention GT, that wasn't written by Toriyama and broke a lot of previously established cannon rules.)
4th offense: Where the hell are Kuririn, Tien, Ranchi, & Chouzu? Oh wait, Goku has no friends. AUGH!! Stupid bastards!
5th offense: Kamesennin (Master Roshi) is neither old nor a pervert.
6th offense: Bulma's hair. Granted, a minor complaint, but these assholes don't deserve any leniency at this point.
7th offense: Where the hell is Goku's tail? *points angrily at his and Gohan's furry tails*

I'm sure should I end up watching this steaming pile of shit, I'd find more things that piss me off, but as I don't intend to see it unless someone puts a gun to my head, it's safe to say I won't be learning much more about it. So a round of double-fingered salutes to 20th Century Fox and everyone else involved in this movie. You all totally suck.

My sincerest hope is that the movie tanks at the box office and falls quickly out of circulation.

My computer caught a virus! Augh!!

The irritating part is that I haven't got a clue as to where it came from. As a major computer geek (complete with degree) I feel both insulted and a bit ego-bruised.

Luckily we got it out before it damaged anything irreplaceable but damn is it annoying!

NaNoWriMo Madness!

Oh my God, I am insane.

I'm participating in National Novel Writing Month this year, so my November will consist of an insane amount of forced creativity.

Oddly enough, it hasn't been so bad. Yet. I am being bombarded with a ton of new art ideas that I'm forcing myself to shelf for the time being.

Fear the cuteness that is Sackboy!

My boyfriend decided to buy his Wii a friend, since he was looking rather lonely with only the projector and sound system for company. So Andy went out and got a PS3 to keep the little guy company . . . and play LittleBigPlanet.

Now being the gaming nerd he is, (I'm one too, heh.) he reserved the game at both Gamestop and BestBuy, receiving two different special codes for his efforts. (He only picked up one of the reserve copies.) So now his Sackboy had an adorable Kratos costume from Gamestop and an equally adorable Nariko costume from BestBuy. ^_^

The costume he's using is a modified Nariko (Heavenly Sword) with black streaks in her hair and fangs. *squeals* Kawaii!

So I was over at his house on Sunday and he had finally got the second controller working so we could do the 2 player parts of the levels.

We played for six hours. Seriously.

It's cute, adorable, and insanely fun. The music so far has been catchy and enjoyable, the levels are fun, although Andy and I will forever loathe bomb levels in any form. And my sackboy is a bit "special". *sighs* It's hard to explain, but I've named him Fred and gave him a purple helmet. There's a reason for that. (Anybody who's seen Stephen Lynch's special on Comedy Central should be in hysterics right about now.) The fangs I gave him were just because I thought they looked cute when he smiled. ^_^


Oh! My sister and I went to the Yu-Gi-Oh card preview last weekend. It was the first one we'd ever gone to so we were a bit nervous. There were a couple of other girls there, but I don't think either of them played. One looked like she was there with her son and the other was a little girl there with her brother. So it was just me, my sister, and a whole bunch of guys . . . who were all terrified of us. (We literally ended up being alone in the center of the room.) We didn't get to duel anyone new (which we expected), but some of them did talk with us a bit, and we learned there were plenty of people in our area that play and are over the age of 18. We're going to try and participate with the duels held on our side of town. We both really need the practice and the socialization couldn't hurt. But the store they did the premier at is on the other side of town, so having a place nearby is a godsend.

You see, the thing the two of us have learned from being Computer Networking majors, is that male nerds need time to get acclimated to females in their presence. If you are patient with them, eventually with repeated exposure, they grow used to you and you can finally make some new friends. ^_^v

A Webmaster's frustrations never end.

Why is it always my own country that comes off so damn stupid?!

Besides my Dragonball Z and Yu-Gi-Oh sites I run several anime-related fanlistings, which are open to applicants from all over the world. And for some inexplicable reason, it's always the American applicants that give me the most trouble. ARGH!!!!

For sanity's sake, I added a drop-down box to all of my fanlistings for countries just a few months ago. You see, I originally let fans tell me which country they were from. With so many countries, some with alternative names and other oddities, I often received some unusual entries. But this wasn't the worst of it. Both in the rules to join and on the actual form it stated: "country". Simple right? Far more times than I care to count, American fans would place the name of their state or even worse their city name instead of the country! WHAT IS WITH THESE PEOPLE?! ARE YOU EVEN READING THESE FORMS?!!!!

So now that I've stopped the country mishaps, the fans are coming up with new ways to annoy me. The latest one comes from my Yu-Gi-Oh doujinshi listing. This form includes a question asking what your favorite type of doujinshi is. Their answer? One Piece. *pauses to bash head against desk* Now on the form I didn't specify Yu-Gi-Oh doujinshi, I didn't think I needed to. It is a Yu-Gi-Oh doujinshi fanlisting and all the 300+ other fans understood that it meant what type of Yu-Gi-Oh doujinshi is their favorite.

*sighs heavily* Some days it's painful to be a webmaster.

My own plans include hauling my 8 month old niece around to friends and family to show off her adorable costume, a quick trip to the mall for candy and more showing off, then back home again. Once there my sisters and I will order pizza and settle down to watch "Ghosthunters Live".

Yeah, it's been awhile hasn't it. *sighs* I've been insanely busy these last few months, but I managed to survive. I've successfully graduated from college and become an aunt. Now all I have to do is find myself a new job and I'm all set!

If my baby sister doesn't drive me insane, that is.

She and her idiot boyfriend went and got married at the courthouse a couple weeks ago. Without telling either of their families. We just found out two days ago. *sighs heavily* Worse still, the two of them both have part-time jobs that combined couldn't pay for even one of them to live on their own, let alone both of them and their baby. *growls* They still haven't given an explanation as to why they went and did it. >_< There's a lot of other crap involved too, but I won't get into that here. I just really needed to vent a bit.

Friggin' Ice Storm . . .

So I'm sitting here at work with my first use of full electricity and Internet in the last nearly five days. @_@ Some of you may have heard about the ice storm that hit Southwest Missouri last Friday. Well, I live smack in the middle of Greene County, which got hit the worst. >_< We lost power on Friday in what was one of the mildest appearing storms I've ever sat through. Hell, a few degrees higher and all this crap would've just been rain. But it wasn't and my entire home city is still covered in frozen ice and fallen trees. The ice is due to the freezing temperatures and lack of sun. (Except for yesterday, I sat by the window and soaked up the wonderful light. ^_^ )

At any rate, my family is one of the lucky ones. All the trees that fell managed to fall away from our house keeping the damage to themselves. We've also been able to stay at home the whole time. Despite losing are heater, we have a gas-powered fireplace in our living room and a gas-powered water heater. Believe me, I've been thanking God a lot for these blessings. That and while I've heard of a lot of close calls, there haven't been near as many injuries or deaths as their could have been.

Nearly froze my damn fingers off when I spent a half hour hammering and practicing my kickboxing skills while removing the quarter to half inch thick sheet of ice that was encasing my entire car. I still can't see out my sideview mirrors. I'm afraid I'll break the glass before I break the ice.

I'm tired of the cold and I want my Internet back. I love my family, but I need my space, my room is in the basement and it's too cold and dark to do anything but sleep in there. But flannel sheets and fleece blankets so kick ass.

Behold the glory of the multi-faceted rant!

First the work rant: There's something in the water this year. Either that, or the school system is feeding these kids something new. Whatever the case, there's no denying that the kids in my area have especially onry this year. It's like there's some force out there making them lash out at each other and anyone else in their path. At first I thought it was me, but after talking with the officers I'm sure the kids are just wilder this year. The weird thing is that these are all kids we've had before. Sure, some of them have caused problems before, but now they seem to be going all out!

Then there's the copycats. Ugh. I don't know if this is happening in your town, but here's the rough idea of things in mine. One of the small towns nearby had a kid bring in a gun to school. No one got hurt and the kid was apprehended, but the school got closed. So what happens next? A bunch of kids in our city, and a few of the surrounding towns, started calling in false reports. Claiming one kid or another was bringing in a gun, or saying that they were bringing in one. None of them had any intention of doing this, they just thought it would be a funny joke and they might get school cancelled. (That never happened though.) Of course, we treat each of these situations as a real threat. You can never tell for sure whose serious and whose just blowing smoke until after the investigation. This means that we and our fellow SRO departments have been wasting time and money on kids who think they're being cute. They don't think so after the police get through with them though. *smirks* It's all fun and games until you're on the receiving end of a criminal charge.

They ordered us a new printer for the office. A $2,000+ color laser-jet printer. It's so big, it would break the counter if we tried to set it on one. It also arrived broken and without its big manual. All HP sent was the single set-up page. *rolls eyes* The manual might be on a CD, but I'm not sure if we got that either. So this huge hunk of currently worthless plastic is sitting on the floor of our office, taking up nearly as much space as a whole dispatcher! The damn thing is 2.5ft tall, 2ft wide, and 2.5ft deep! The night after we got it, I told my mom (who is one of the evening dispatchers) that it was just sitting there, hulking over in the corner. I want to get it it's own name badge.

Mom's named it Bruce Banner. (You wouldn't like it when it's angry. *falls over giggling*) So that's the name that's going on its badge.

Work aside, I don't have a school rant this time. School's just kept me busy.

I do have a Internet rant: I'm a member of Webring and if you are too, then you already know where this is going. Webring has decided to force their members into using their paid services. How are they doing this? By restricting the free membership down to only 2 ring ownerships and 5 ring memberships. For $12 a year you can own 10 rings and be in 15. Or for $36 a year you can own 30 rings and be in 50.

Even if I were willing to pay (which I'm not), I would still fall into a huge problem. I currently own 12 webrings and am a member of more than 250 different webrings!

Yeah.

So now I'm looking into new hosts to move my webrings to. I thought Ringsurf would be a good idea, but they're awful small and most of the anime rings there seem to have been abandoned after only one or two sites joined. @_@ Ironically, I think a lot of them ended up on Webring. *sighs* Still, there's more web ring hosts out there, I'll just have to keep poking around. Hey, I've got until January before Webring drops the hammer on all us.

But it's a hell of a lot of work that I shouldn't have to do.
